I’m Hannah, a Registered Dietitian (RD) with a love for food, fitness and staying on top of all the newest trends. My hope is that this blog will be a place where I can share my informed perspectives on health and wellness, delicious recipes, fun workouts, and probably some random ramblings about life as well.
There are some definite preconceived notions that come along with the title “Registered Dietitian”- some true, some not-so-much. I think the biggest misconception about RDs is that we are the food police who have “perfect” diets… I am here to tell you, there is no such thing as “the perfect diet”. Each person is different- different genetics, different bodies, different health status and different goals- there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to nutrition and health. That being said, there are broad nutritional rules and principles that can get each and every person on the path to being a happier, healthier version of themselves. I would also like to clear the air about this “food police” business and I’m sure nearly every other Dietitian will agree with me; I love to eat and I love food! Why else would I have chosen a profession where I’m around food, thinking about food, and talking about food all the time?! The fact so many of us label foods as “good” or “bad” or worse, that WE are “good” or “bad” when we eat certain foods is a mindset that we need to get out of… food is food, some of it is more nourishing and beneficial to our body and health than others, but at the end of the day what you consume shouldn’t give you your self-worth.
Above all else I believe in the saying “health with wealth”. Without health all the money and opportunity in the world doesn’t mean a thing if you cannot enjoy it. Every single thing you put in your mouth affects your body; nutrition is the most vital component of your health. I can’t wait to share with you all the small (and big) changes you can implement into your everyday life to make you feel better, look better and be happier.
Thanks for visiting; keep checking back as this site is a constant work-in-progress!
